Why is our hotel named "Severnica"

The name of the Severnica Boutique Hotel was not chosen by chance. Severnica is an ancient Slavic name for the Polar Star, the brightest star in the northern sky. For centuries, the North Star has served as a reliable reference point for travelers, sailors and anyone who set out on a journey through the northern expanses. Her light was a symbol of hope, safety and the right direction, helping people find their way home.

Arkhangelsk is a city with a rich history of navigation, the gateway to the Russian North. It was here, on the shores of the Northern Dvina, that many captains and crews began their travels in the northern seas. For them, the Northerner was not just a star — she was a guide, guarding and accompanying them on long marches.

By choosing this name for our hotel, we wanted to emphasize the connection with northern traditions and the atmosphere of hospitality. "Severnica" symbolizes care, comfort and confidence that every guest will find their home away from home.
